Serbian citizenship: the real routes, realistic timelines, and who should start with residency instead

A free live session for people with Serbian ancestry, long-term residents, spouses of Serbian citizens, and anyone weighing a second citizenship: what each route requires, how long each realistically takes, and how to tell which one is open to you now.

This session covers Serbian citizenship. We run these sessions every week, each on a different topic: residency, business setup, citizenship and property.

Next live session: Tuesday 6 October 2026

13:00 Central European Time · 12:00 UK · 7:00 AM US Eastern

45 minutes: about 25 minutes of teaching, then live Q&A. Can't make it live? Register anyway. Every registrant gets the replay within two hours, available for seven days.

General information only. Not legal, tax or immigration advice for your situation.

What you'll leave with

  • The four routes: descent, naturalisation after residence, marriage, and exceptional merit, and what each one actually requires.
  • Why "my grandparent was Serbian" is often enough and sometimes isn't, and what decides it.
  • Realistic timelines, including the residence prerequisite most people underestimate. Timelines depend on the authorities and, for descent cases, on what records survive.
  • The documents and the common disqualifiers, so you don't spend a year on a file that was never going to work.
  • A decision map: ancestry, already resident, spouse, exceptional case, or none of these, and where to start.

This session is for you if you're seriously considering Serbian citizenship and want the facts before you commit time and money.

It's probably not for you if you're looking for a purchase-based passport. Serbia does not sell citizenship, and we won't pretend otherwise.

What we'll cover (45 minutes)

  1. The four routes and who each is realistically open to (10 min)
  2. Timelines and the residence prerequisite (8 min)
  3. Documents, archive research, and the disqualifiers (7 min)
  4. Live Q&A (20 min)

Common questions

Is it free?

Yes. If you want your own eligibility assessed afterwards, the Citizenship Assessment is €149 (60 minutes) and credits in full toward any citizenship track you go on to book.

Can you tell me if I qualify?

Not from a webinar. What we can show you is what each route requires, so you can see for yourself where you stand. The assessment exists for the real answer on your file.

Is a Serbian passport an EU passport?

No. Serbia is not an EU member. We'll cover what it does give you.

How long does it take?

It depends on the route and, for descent cases, on what records survive. We'll give realistic ranges, not promises. The decision rests with the Ministry.

I'm in North America and 7 AM is early.

Register anyway. The replay lands within two hours and stays available for seven days.

What happens after you register

You'll get a confirmation email with your personal joining link straight away, a reminder the day before and one an hour before. After the session you'll get the replay. Registering for a webinar does not book a consultation or commit you to anything.

What we do with your details.

Helion Global Group LLC, trading as Relocation Serbia (30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA), and Globalna Poslovna Rešenja DOO (Laze Telečkog 6, 21000 Novi Sad, Serbia) are together responsible for your information. You can contact us about either at support@relocationserbia.com. We collect your name and email address so we can register you for this session, send you the joining link and reminders, and send you the recording afterwards. Our legal basis for that is performing the service you asked for.

The session is recorded. The recording captures the host's screen and voice only — not attendee names, cameras, microphones or chat. If you type a question in the chat, the host sees your name next to it; other attendees do not.

We keep your registration details for 24 months after your last contact with us, and the recording for 12 months, then delete them. We use WebinarGeek to run the session and Encharge to send the emails; both process your data on our instructions, and this may involve storage outside Serbia. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Email support@relocationserbia.com. You can also complain to the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (poverenik.rs), or to your own national data protection authority if you are in the EU or the UK.

Free to attend. Forty-five minutes. Attendee cameras and microphones are disabled for the whole session. The session is recorded — the recording captures the host's screen and voice only. Register even if you can't make the live session and we'll email you the replay. How we handle your data.

How the session runs.

This is a live session with a real host, not a recorded video on a timer. Attendee cameras and microphones are disabled for the whole session, so you are not seen or heard. Other attendees cannot see your name and cannot see who else is in the room. Questions go through the chat box and are visible only to the host — other attendees do not see what you ask, though the host does see your name alongside your question. The session is recorded for people who cannot attend live. The recording captures the host's screen and voice only; it does not capture attendee names, cameras, microphones or chat. You will receive the replay by email whether or not you attend. The session runs on WebinarGeek, which processes this data on our instructions, and we keep the recording for twelve months.
